Founded in 2007, Joyetech has always set its eyes on brand development. With continuous research and development in new technologies and products, it would not be surprising if it emerges as an industry leader in the vaping market, thanks to the cutting-edge products it offers. Combing experience and knowledge, Joyetech provides its customers with competitive and reliable services to uphold its brand and spread profound influence in the industry.
Joyetech is known for a plethora of products, and its take on the emerging vape pod system is the Exceed Grip, which appears to be a hybrid between all-in-one (AIO) and pod vape.
The Joyetech Exceed Grip bears that traditional classic boxy look, but its neat and mismatch panels give the device its unique look. The device comes in a variety of colors and patterns, ranging from plain black, blue, and white to artistically designed mystery blue, rainbow tattoo, and skull stone.
I was surprised when I first open the box, and I saw a tiny device measuring just 74 mm tall, 40 mm wide, and 21 mm thick. Its size fits just right between my thumb and index finger so maneuvering its small body is very convenient and easy.
Its body is made from zinc alloy and PVC materials, and the built is sturdy and good. All its components can attest this device won’t just fall apart easily.
What’s notable with this vaping device is the fact that it provides two pods. The first is a 4.5mL pod cartridge that utilizes 0.4ohm mesh coil. It is designed to cater to users who are fond of direct to lung draw and prefer freebase or regular vape juices.
The second one is a 3.5mL traditional pod with a built-in 0.8ohm mesh coil. It is being marketed as a mouth to lung (MTL) device and accommodates high nic salt vape liquids.
Although both pods are slightly tinted, the visibility is not affected so you can see if there is still enough e-juice left in the cartridge. Also, they can be conveniently inserted with a firm push and removed with a gentle pull from the side of the device. They fit perfectly into the mold, so you don’t have to worry that they will wiggle or rattle.
Filling both pod and cartridge follow the same process. First, you will need to remove the small rubber stopper near the bottom area then fill the port with your e-juice of choice. Make sure you return the stopper securely in place to avoid leaking. I did not have any difficulties or issues refilling my cartridges.
The Exceed Grip by Joyetech is packed with 1000 mAh battery. At first, I was surprised how a small device can weigh up to 70 grams. Then, I realized it was all the battery, which is pretty understandable though. With its low constant output voltage of 5V, your battery is well enough to last you an entire day (for average vapers). The Grip fires between 10 and 13 watts, depending on the pod you use. Anyways, it is guaranteed to last long.
One of Joyetech’s proud moments on the Exceed Grip is the integrated Dry Burn Protection technology. I think this is also one of the reasons why I decided to give this a try. The technology prevents users from getting dry hits. If the Grip detects that the wick is getting too dry, it will cut the power of your device down.
Does the technology work? Yes! You would know it is working when you see the battery indicator of your device flashing the red light twice.
Performance-wise, both traditional pod and pod cartridge delivers a decent e-juice flavor and cloud production. However, some areas need improvement too, like the ineffective wicking of the 0.4ohm coil. Nevertheless, they are not significant issues at all.
You can purchase your own Joyetech Exceed Grip for only $36.80 at www.joyetech.com. Here’s a list of the things included inside the kit: EXCEED Grip battery, a standard cartridge (4.5mL; EX-M coil pre-installed), pod cartridge (3.5mL), EX-M 0.4ohm mesh coil, USB cable, user manual, and warranty card.
Overall, this smart pod system with colorful panels makes a suitable device for both starter and advanced vapers.
